Approved strategic projects within the 5th call of the Interreg Euro-MED Transnational Cooperation Programme 2021 – 2027

At a meeting held on 24 June in Split, the Monitoring Committee of the Euro-MED Programme 2021-2027 approved the strategic projects from the 5th call for proposals. Nine projects worth around EUR 28 million in Interreg funds were approved for funding.
The fifth call focused on projects related to specific types of territories - islands, rural areas and hilly or mountainous areas - with an emphasis on their geographical and development specificities. The call financed projects that combine research, testing and transfer activities, and address the topics of water scarcity and waste prevention and reduction.
The call opened the Smarter and Greener Mediterranean priorities for funding. Of the nine approved projects, three address topics from Priority 1 (Smarter Mediterranean), and six from Priority 2 (Greener Mediterranean).
The largest number of projects were financed under Specific Objective 2.4 (Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention and resilience) where 4 projects were approved.
Seven projects are focused on water resources management, while the remaining two focus on waste and promoting the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy.
Croatian partners are participating in 7 approved projects with a total of 8 contracts, through which they have secured around 2 million euros of Interreg funds.
