Agreement of the Ministry of Finance of Albania with KfW: 87 million euros for integrated regional development and sustainable solid waste management

The Ministry of Finance and Economy, on behalf of the Albanian government, signed several agreements with KfW Frankurt am Main, which aim to support loans and grants for two important projects. The contracts were signed by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, and the director of KfW's regional office for Albania, Brit Horschke.
One of the agreements refers to the financing of the Program for sustainable and climate-friendly management in the solid waste sector, through which the financing value of 50 million euros in loans and 16 million euros in grants is foreseen. The general objective of the program is to contribute to sustainable solid waste management, through investments in solid waste infrastructure and institutional support, to provide improved services in different areas of waste.
The second financing agreement refers to the "Regional Integrated Development" project, through which an amount of 20 million euros in loans and one million euros in grants is provided. The main goal of the project is to contribute to economic growth in Albania, as well as the creation of new jobs and income growth, especially in rural areas for women and youth.
This program is considered part of the document "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) approved by the UN General Assembly in 2015".
The Regional Integrated Development Program (RIDP) is part of the long-term strategies of the Albanian government to revitalize the local economy and community life through increased attention to urban development and tourism.
